Oliver Jeffers’ People Live Here is a unique limited edition print created in celebration of The Moon, The Earth, and Us, an immersive public installation opening in New York this January.

Stemming from a new body of work greatly inspired by his latest book Here We Are, Oliver attempts to comprehend our place in this vast universe while examining the perspective shift achieved upon considering the Earth as a single entity seen at a distance. From this exploration comes the simple realization, that Earth alone is our home.

Upon a deep purple background sits two surreal orbs representing the Moon and our home, planet Earth. The warm cratered Moon sits in the distance declaring “No One Lives Here” while the lilac Earth floats the forefront circled by clouds, drawn with our current borders in tact. Rather than naming the countries that sit inside these lines, it is noted repeatedly “People live here.”
These elements comprise a passionate response to our impulse to divide from one another, and offer instead a gentle reminder that borders are a human construct, recognized only by human beings. We are reminded that regardless of which of these invisible lines you live inside, all people inhabit only the dry parts of this planet, and nowhere else.

People Live Here is a celebration of our planet as a single organism, and a nod to our closest neighbor, the glowing grey moon.  Adorned with hand painted elements by Jeffers in vibrant golds, whites and yellows, the edition is available today in an edition of 68, numbered in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Earthrise photograph, the first image of Earth in its entirety, taken December 24th, 1968 on the Apollo 8 mission.

All proceeds from this print go towards supporting The Moon, The Earth, and Us.

Each print is signed, numbered and hand finished by Oliver.
